As a Lion

Sports have alwats been a big part of Hoyt Kirk's life.  Born in Perry County, named after a baseball star, he played baseball and basketball for Linden High School.  He then went on to play both sports at David Lipscomb College.

He has been associated with coaching and athletics at Freed-Hardeman for over 25 years.  Hoyt Kirk has been involved with golf, cross country, tumbling, baseball and basketball.  He has served in the capacity of athletic director and department head.  A great deal of time and energy was devoted as director of Mid-South Youth Camp.

For the past 20 years, Kirk has been a gospel minister.  However, with all these activities, he still finds quality time to spend with his wife Bettye, daughter Patti and grandson Kirk.  Even now "coach" is actively involved in private coaching lessons with his grandson.
