As a Lion

Kamara Trice, from Chester County, joined the FHU Lady Lion Softball team in 2011. She had one of the most electric bats in Lady Lion softball history, and the numbers are there to prove it. Her ferocity and consistency at the plate, as well as in the circle as a pitcher, helped her to a Hall of Fame induction.

At the plate, Trice was a career .387 hitter, slugged .686 (first in Lady Lions history), and got on base nearly 50 percent of her appearances at the plate.

At induction, she was first all-time in Lady Lions history in six categories, including career hits (155), career slugging percentage, single-season slugging percentage (.818 in 2015), career runs batted in (134), single-season runs batted in (52 in 2015), and tied for first in single-game runs batted in (six vs. Blue Mountain on 4/10/2014).

"Kamara is one of those local kids that stayed home and helped take the softball program to its first trip to the National Tournament," head coach Todd Humphry said. "A pure athlete with a work ethic unmatched made Kamara the player we needed to take us to the next level. We still tell stories of the time she played here."

Trice also appeared in 59 games as a pitcher for the Lady Lions. In her career, she had a 3.40 earned run average in 290 2/3 innings pitched. She was 28-14 in her career with 139 strikeouts. When she played third base, she had a .945 career fielding percentage with 142 putouts and 250 assists.

During her senior season in 2015, she helped lead the Lady Lions to their first National Tournament appearance and was named an All-American. She also hit for the cycle in that season.

"It is a true honor being voted into the Hall of Fame and being chosen to be among a group of individuals that will be looked up to by future athletes," Trice said. "In knowing that there were so many amazing athletes that could be standing right here, I am truly grateful. I grew up in a sport household, in other words, we lived on the field and court. I didn't think that I was going to do anything that someone else couldn't do, I just focused on being the best that I could be during the present times. None of this would have been possible without my teammates. I was raised to leave everything on the field."

Trice graduated from Freed-Hardeman in 2015 with a BS in Exercise Science and in 2011 she obtained her RN degree from Jackson State Community College. She is currently an RN Staff Nurse at West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, TN.
