As a Lion

Throughout her time with the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball program, Meribeth Boehler found her way into the record books in several offensive categories including Most Points in a Season (848), Highest Point Average in a Season (23.6) and Most Field Goals in a Season (330). Perhaps even more impressive was the attention she received at the national level, earning NAIA Player of the Year honors during the 2010-11 season while also being named to the TranSouth All-Conference team on three occasions.

Boehler, a two-time NAIA All-American selection, averaged 23.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game her senior season with the Lady Lions while shooting an impressive 53.6 percent from the field and 72.4 percent from the stripe. For her career, she appeared in 141 games and averaged 13.3 points per game and accumulated 1,870 points.

Dale, head coach for the Lady Lion basketball program, said Boehler was a special player that comes along once in a lifetime.

“Meribeth broke school records in scoring and rebounding that most thought would never be broken,” Neal said. “By her senior season, she had become the most dominant player in the NAIA. Teams tried with no avail to double and triple team her. Offensively, coaches talk to their players about taking what the defense gives you, but Meribeth was so dominant she would take what she wanted. She was an amazing player.”

After Graduation

During her four years at Freed-Hardeman, Boehler obtained her Bachelor's and Master’s degree in accounting. Following graduation, she worked at Steele Martin Jones accounting firm. Currently, she teaches fifth grade at Ramer Elementary in Ramer, Tenn. She is married to Matt Carpenter and they have two sons: Jackson and John Thomas.
