Orlando Bass was one of the most prolific scorers in Freed-Hardeman history. Amassing 1,620 points across his career, Bass was a threat at all three offensive levels.

In his freshman campaign, Bass appeared in 29 games for the Lions, averaging six points per game. As an indicator of his future talents, in just his fifth collegiate game, Bass went 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line to record 21 points.

Despite a shortened sophomore campaign, Bass's scoring average skyrocketed to an average of 17.4 points per game, while participating in just 14 of the Lions' competitions. Of those 14 games, Bass tallied double-digit points including a new personal best of 30.

Bass returned to the hardwood in his junior season needing to make up for lost time. On an FHU team that reached the NAIA quarterfinals, Bass led his Lions by averaging 16.9 points per game. For his efforts, Bass was named to the American Midwest Conference First Team All-Conference Squad.

Entering his senior year needing eight points to cross the 1,000-point threshold, Bass instead scored a career-high 34 points in the season opener. Bass spent the entire season in double-figures and by averaging a personal-best 20.3 points per game, he was crowned as the AMC's Player of the Year and picked up 2nd Team All-America honors.

At the time of his induction, Bass's name was in the record books for his stellar senior year, sitting in the seventh position for most 3-point field goal attempts (225) and in 10th place for most points (628) in a single season. In his career, Bass was the seventh-best free-throw shooter in program history with a 76.9 free-throw percentage, making 239 of an attempted 428.

After FHU

Bass graduated in 2016 with a degree in criminal justice. Since graduation, he served as the assistant director of security for a mixed-use development in Memphis, Tennessee, and is now awaiting a position as postal police. He is married to Kelsey Bass.
