As a Lion

One of the premier power hitters to ever come through the Freed-Hardeman baseball program, Pernell Knox did the majority of his damage at the plate in his final two years at FHU.

The first baseman from Columbia, Tenn., tied the program's single-season home run record with 17 during his junior season.  He finished the season with a .762 slugging percentage (seventh all-time), a 1.222 OPS (seventh all-time) and 29 extra-base hits (fourth all-time).  His stellar season, which also saw him hit .378 with 52 RBI, earned him a selection to the all-conference and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American team.

Knox ranks fourth in program history in career home runs with 30, eighth in career RBI with 128 and sixth in career slugging percentage (.611).  He also hit 17 doubles as a senior, ranking sixth in program history for a single season, to go along with 10 home runs and 50 RBI.

After Graduation

At the time of his induction, Knox returned to Freed-Hardeman as the Head Athletic Trainer after receiving his physical therapy degree from the University of Tennessee Memphis Health Science Center. He now serves as the athletic director for his alma mater, Columbia Academy.
