As Head Coach of the Goodpasture Christian School Basketball program for 14 seasons, Ronnie Sarver established a winning tradition that has yet to be matched. Originally a member of the Freed-Hardeman College basketball team from 1965-1967 under Head Coach Hoyt Kirk, Sarver began his coaching career at Goodpasture in 1974 and compiled 15 consecutive winnings seasons until his retirement in 1988.

Throughout his coaching career at Goodpasture Christian, Sarver compiled a 303-127 record and led his teams to seven district championships, four regional championships and five state tournament appearances. Additionally, his teams advanced to three State Semifinal appearances while finishing the 1978 season as the State runner-up.

Throughout his career, Sarver spent 48 years as an educator, serving as Coach, Teacher and Administrator in both the Public and Christian Education sectors. In addition to his coaching duties, he served as president of Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, Tenn. and Ezell-Harding Christian School in Antioch, Tenn.

“Coach Sarver is a legendary coach and proven winner on the basketball court and in preparing young men and women for life,” said Scotty Lee, former player for Coach Sarver.  “He is a great Christian leader who instilled toughness, discipline and strong work ethic to help his players succeed on and off the court.”

Sarver has been married to his wife Shearon since 1969. They have three children: Shannon, Deanna and Ron and eight grandchildren. They currently reside in Goodlettsville, Tenn.

“Any success I had in coaching was a result of being at a great school, having great Assistant Coaches and outstanding young men and women who played for me,” said Sarver. “This honor is a tribute to the people I have known more than anything else and I honor them through this recognition.”
