As a Lion

When Tarrah Tucker took the circle, there was little doubt that the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team would have a excellent chance to win the game.

From her sophomore through senior seasons, Tucker was one of the best pitchers in the NAIA.  Her work in the circle made her a three-time first-team all-conference selection and earned her FHU's first-ever softball All-American honor when she was named to the second team in 2009.  She also was named the TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2009 after going 19-3 with a 0.93 ERA and 207 strikeouts in 136 innings pitched.

The Freed-Hardeman softball pitching record book is filled with Tucker's name as she holds eight single-game, single-season and career marks - most strikeouts in a game (18), season (287) and career (779); single-season (0.93) and career (1.73) ERA; and single-season (11) and career (25) shutouts.  She also ranks second in career wins with 56.

"Tarrah Tucker was special to the FHU softball program the first day she stepped on our campus," said head softball coach Todd Humphry. "She is every coach's dream player with an overpowering arm and a will to win."

After Graduation

After finishing her playing career, Tucker spent two seasons as the team's graduate assistant.  At the time of her induction, she taught wellness at East Hickman HS and was the middle school softball coach.
