As a Lion

Tony Lambert joined the Freed-Hardeman men's basketball team in 1998, and made a difference for the Lions from the first time he took the floor.  The Newbern, Tenn., native averaged 11.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game during his freshman season on his way to being named to the TranSouth Conference All-Freshman team.

He only got better from there, leading the team in scoring as a sophomore (15.5 ppg) and averaged a career-best 15.9 points per game in his final season.  His senior campaign saw the Lions win a program-record 25 games and reach No. 6 in the NAIA national ratings.

Lambert currently ranks eighth in career scoring (1,846 points), fifth in career rebounds (797), fourth in career 3-pointers made (259), third in career 3-point percentage (39.5) and ninth in career steals (157).  He was an all-conference selection in each of his last three seasons.

"Tony loved the game as much as anyone I ever coached," said longtime Lion basketball coach Mike McCutchen.  "He had the ability to play anywhere on the floor.  He had tremendous shooting range but also had the strength to rebound and score in the post."
