Wes Miller

As a Lion

A high school teammate of FHU's all-time leading scorer Jamie Norsworthy, Wes Miller preceded Norsworthy by a year coming out of Graves Co. (Ky.) HS.  He was a solid contributor as a freshman, averaging 8.0 points per game.  He continued that trend in his next two seasons, averaging over 11 points per game both seasons while shooting well over 50 percent from the field.

A torn ACL cut his first senior season short, but with it only happening five games into the season, Miller was able to receive a medical redshirt and finish his career the following year.  He turned that year into his most productive, shooting 62.7 percent from the field (fourth best in program history) while averaging a career-best 18.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.  His performance that season earned him a first-team all-conference selection.

"Wes was the kind of player that made everyone around him better," said Mike McCutchen, who was Miller's coach at FHU.  "He always gave his best and he was willing to do whatever he was asked to do without letting his ego get in the way. He was the ultimate team player."

After Graduation

After graduating from Freed-Hardeman, Miller obtained a masters in education and has been in the teaching and coaching ranks since then.  At the time of his induction, he was the head middle and high school boys basketball coach at South Fulton (Tenn.) School.  He resides there with his wife, Stephanie.
