CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Neither the Freed-Hardeman Lions nor their opposition in the Campbellsville (Ky.) University Tigers shot the ball well in Thursday night's conference clash. The Lions and Tigers combined to shoot 39.6% from the field, with the Lions claiming victory 62-58 in the low-scoring affair.

Freed-Hardeman (7-2, 4-0 MSC) spent their first half driving the lane, with nearly all of their points in the first half coming from either layups or free throws. Ryley McClaran hit a 3-pointer with five minutes remaining before the half to give FHU their only points outside of the paint or the free-throw line. It was a tough end for the Lions in the first half, after JJ Wheat's bucket at 2:07, FHU would go 0-for-5 from the floor to end the half leading 32-27.

Down by five, the Tigers (6-4, 1-3 MSC) immediately erased that deficit at the start of the second half, hitting a 3-pointer after a dunk to knot the game with 18:38 left to play. A Campbellsville 3-pointer gave the Tigers a lead they would cling to for the majority of the second half. Freed-Hardeman; however, stayed within striking distance of the Tigers, never trailing by more than three possessions. Those three possessions came in the form of a layup from Scurlock, and a steal from Lax in which his layup on the fast break both had a foul and a call for goaltending, giving FHU a 58-56 lead after Lax connected on the free throw. Two free throw makes from Campbellsville tied affairs with 95 seconds remaining. In the next possession, Scurlock hit FHU's second 3-pointer of the night with 30 seconds remaining to give FHU the go-ahead bucket. Peyton Law's free throw iced the game with a 62-58 final score in favor of the Lions.

Ryley McClaran and Hunter Scurlock shared the honor for most points, both tallying 12. Scurlock also led the Lions with six rebounds, with JaQuan Lax giving out a team-high five helpers.
