ALEXANDRIA, La. — Tallying two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings, the No. 5 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions recorded their second win of the day with a 4-0 shutout of the Louisiana Christian University Lady Wildcats.

Despite Catherine Crabb and Myleah Hardy tallying singles in the top of the first inning, Freed-Hardeman (2-0) was unable to capitalize on the early baserunners by leaving both stranded.

Louisiana Christian (4-2) left two baserunners on the basepaths after Chloe Winters struck out her third batter of the inning to move to the top of the third inning.

Neither team would threaten again until Hardy led off the top of the sixth inning with a double down the left-field line. After Hardy's pinch runner, Karli Quillin, was tagged out to allow Anna Kate Norton to reach on the fielder's choice, Cassie Hayes (1) sent a 2-2 pitch over the fence in left to put the Lady Lions on top 2-0.

FHU would strike again in the top of the seventh when Sophie Dunavant took advantage of a Lady Wildcat throwing error to score the third run of the game. Hayes would follow with an RBI double to left field to plate Norton and finish the scoring with a 4-0 final.

Chloe Winters (1-0) was a force in the circle, punching out eight while allowing just two hits in the shutout victory.

Cassie Hayes went 2-4 while driving in three runs. Catherine Crabb led the hitting for FHU, collecting three hits in four trips. Myleah Hardy added a pair of base knocks in the win.
