CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A day after learning they had received votes in the latest NAIA women's basketball poll, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions took their first road trip, battling the No. 3 Campbellsville (Ky.) University Tigers. Campbellsville's defense shut down the Lady Lions to give FHU their first loss of the season 75-53.

Freed-Hardeman (8-1, 3-1 MSC) was in foul trouble early with three Lady Lions recording a pair of fouls each in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, Campbellsville utilized a 12-3 run in the middle of the first quarter to hold an early lead. Kalea Fleming would hit a 3-pointer late in the quarter, followed by a Rachel Satterly jumper to see FHU trail 16-11 after the first 10 minutes.

The CU Tigers (6-0, 4-0 MSC) opened the second quarter with a turnover that Madisyn Baugher turn into a 3-pointer. The Tigers would then go on a seven-point unanswered point streak to push to a nine-point spread. KJ kept her Lady Lions in the game with back-to-back layups, but three long balls from Campbellsville pushed the Tigers even further ahead. Raegan Purvine's 3-pointer near the end of the half hoped to provide a spark in the locker room with FHU down 34-23.

The third period proved to be a layup line for both teams, with eight of the quarter's 19 field goals coming in the lane, while the fourth quarter was comprised mostly of free throws from the hosting Tigers. Campbellsville attempted 29 free throws in the contest, connecting for 20. On the other end of the floor, FHU went 3-for-10 from the charity stripe in the 75-53 losing effort.

KJ White led the Lady Lion offense, scoring 11 points and dishing out four assists. Rachel Satterly led the team by pulling down six rebounds while Raegan Purvine swiped away four steals.
