Lions even series with win

HENDERSON, Tenn. — After falling in the first game of the series the Freed-Hardeman University Lions fired back with an 8-6 win over the University of Mobile (Ala.) Rams. While being outhit, the Lions still battled back to get the victory.

While Mobile (10-1) scored two runs in the top of the first inning, the Lions fired back quickly. Zach Sanders started the game with a single, Will McCall with a walk, and Brady Spring got the Lions on the board with an RBI single. Following in his steps, Christian Presley hit an RBI single to tie the ballgame up. Lions took the lead as Trace Anderson brought home the third run of the inning for the Lions on a fielder's choice.

While the Rams continued adding runs, the Lions (8-4) continued to fight in the bottom of the third inning. With the Lions loading the bases, Zach Sanders cleared the bases with a big-time three RBI double. The Lions took the lead 6-5. With Mobile adding one run, Freed-Hardeman took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as Will McCall walked in the seventh run.

Colton Huntt (2-0) started the game on the mound for the Freed-Hardeman University Lions. Huntt picked up the win and pitched five innings while walking two and striking out five batters. Nolan Wells came in to finish the ballgame and picked up his second save of the season. Wells pitched two innings while striking out four batters.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow, February 18, as they will play another doubleheader against the Mobile Rams at Five Wells Field starting at 12:00 p.m.
