While Freed-Hardeman's season ended two games away the NAIA College World Series in Lewston, Idaho, one FHU Lion earned one of the top distinctions with Will McCall being selected to the All-America First Team.

Over the last few weeks, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2023 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes for competing spring sports. Freed-Hardeman University had 50 student-athletes chosen across baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field.

A day after his 2023 campaign ended, another accolade has been bestowed on junior pitcher Colton Huntt. The right-handed hurler was selected to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team.

Lions' season ends in championship game

The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions got the opportunity to face off against the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies for the third matchup in three days, with the Lions forcing the "if necessary" ballgame by the efforts of Houston High last evening. Unfortunately, the Lions fell to the Grizzlies by a score of 7-1. Sean Rooney was the Lions' leading hitter, collecting two of the team's four hits in the morning contest.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — With their backs to the wall, the No. 2 seed Freed-Hardeman University Lions made the No. 3 seed Concordia (Neb.) University Bulldogs pay for four errors, scoring seven unearned runs in an 11-8 victory to advance to the regional final.

The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions started on the right foot in the Lawrenceville bracket with an excellent team win over the Concordia University (NE) Bulldogs. The Lions beat the Bulldogs by a score of 7 to 4 as the Lions outhit the Bulldogs by eight hits to their seven hits.

Rain washes away MSC title hopes

Needing to win two games on Sunday to win the Mid-South Conference Tournament, the Kentucky spring weather had other ideas. After one delay of three hours, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions and the No. 7 University of the Cumberlands Patriots hit the field just long enough to play the required five innings before another bout of rain halted the game after the fifth inning with a 4-1 final.

With the backs to the wall, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lion rattled off back-to-back wins Saturday afternoon. After advancing to the elimination final with a win over Georgetown (Ky.) College, the Lions punched their tickets to the Mid-South Conference Tournament Final with a 7-5 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University, avenging yesterday's loss to the Phoenix.

Combining for 20 runs and 22 hits, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions and the No. 23 Cumberland (Tenn.) University Phoenix gave the fans in Bowling Green plenty to cheer for. The No. 2 seeded Phoenix would hit a slew of home runs late to hand the No. 3 seed Lions an 11-9 loss.

As they compete for a Mid-South Conference Tournament title, seven members of the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University baseball program were chosen as All-Conference players. Mason Libla, Will McCall, and Christian Presley were selected for the first team, Alex Huey and Zach Sanders for the second team, while Colton Huntt and Sean Rooney were honorably mentioned. Libla and Huey were also awarded the Gold Glove for their positions. Zach Sanders picked up a Gold Glove at shortstop after previously winning the award at second base.

The Mid-South Conference announced baseball's Academic All-Conference and Champions of Character teams. The Lions had 16 players honored, tied for third-best in the league.
