Presley's four-hit night leads FHU to victory

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions take game one of the series against (RV) Campbellsville University (Ky.) Tigers on a score of 5-2. The Lions outhit the Tigers thirteen hits to nine hits.

The Lions' (18-11, 7-6 MSC) mentality of scoring first works as Christian Presley leads off the ballgame with a double. Zach Sanders moves him to third base, and Will McCall brings Presley home. Fast forwarding to the top of the fifth inning, the Lions add more runs to the ballgame. Anthony Jarvis gets the Lions on base with a single. Following a fielder's choice and a stolen base by Adam Smithson, Presley singles to bring home Smithson and help the Lions add on 2-0.

With the Lions leading 2-0 still in the top of the sixth inning, Sean Rooney singles. Following the single, Mason Libla added another single to have runners on first and second base. Then to tack on his sixth home run of the year, Baron Ratliff homers to bring home three RBIs, and the Lions now lead the Tigers 5-0.

With the Campbellsville  (14-13, 8-5 MSC) University Tigers adding on two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, The ballgame was still in the Lions' favor with a score of 6-2. Christian Presley led all hitters with four hits on the day, including two doubles and two RBIs. Sean Rooney helped the Lions record a victory with a huge three-hit ballgame.

Alex Huey (5-2) picks up the win for the Lions while pitching six innings allowing eight hits and striking out five batters. Montana Dickerson was outstanding in relief, pitching two innings allowing only one hit, and striking out two batters. Finally, Nolan Wells ended the ballgame by pitching one inning and striking out two batters.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 16, as they will continue their series against the Campbellsville Tigers. The doubleheader begins at 11:30 ET (12:30 CT) as the Lions look to take a series win.
