Law's double-double leads Lions to league win

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Peyton Law recorded his young career's first double-double with a 10-point, 10-rebound performance. Law helped lead his Lions to a 40-point second half to claim victory over the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College Blue Raiders 62-60.

Freed-Hardeman (8-2, 5-0 MSC) was first on the board with JJ Wheat draining a 3-pointer off of a Lindsey Wilson turnover. The early turnover proved to be an omen for the Blue Raiders, who committed 13 giveaways to the Lions' six. To further their credit, the Lions connected for 13 points off of those turnovers. LWC was off and running, making five of their first six shots to jump out to a 12-7 lead over the FHU Lions. JaQuan Lax knocked down a 3-pointer before Hunter Scurlock went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line to tie the contest at 12-12 with 14:13 left in the half. Lindsey Wilson would make a late push, going on a 10-2 run to close the half with a 29-22 lead.

In the second half, Lindsey Wilson (5-5, 1-4 MSC) held the lead for a majority of the time, but with Freed-Hardeman answering every bucket, never by more than one possession. The Blue Raiders scored 18 points in the paint during the second frame, with the Lions taking a different approach. Freed-Hardeman went 13-for-16 from the free-throw line to slow down the Blue Raider pace. While hitting their free throws, Alex Rush, Ryley McClaran, and Law each hit 3-point jumpers to give FHU a one-point lead. Each of those one-point leads were quickly erased with layups from LWC. JJ Wheat's layup with 41 seconds gave FHU a one-point advantage. After drawing a foul, Geraldo Lane hit both of his free throws with four seconds remaining to force LWC to need a 3-pointer to tie. A quick foul by the Lions sent Elijah Jordan to the free-throw line, instead. After making one of the freebies, the rebound was tipped around long enough for the buzzer to sound with FHU ahead 62-60.

Three Lions ended in double-digits, with JJ Wheat leading the way with 12 points, followed closely by Hunter Scurlock's 11. Peyton Law's 10 points were coupled with a team-high 10 rebounds to record the double-double.
