Jackson Bennett tabbed Champion of Character, Lions lead MSC with Academic All-Conference

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2023 Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Champions of Character team has been released, conference officials announced on Wednesday.


The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.


Bethel's (Tenn.) Tyler Neely, Campbellsville's (Ky.) Jordan Graham, Cumberland's (Tenn.) Isaac Stephens, Cumberlands' (Ky.) Isiah Payton, Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) Jackson Bennett, Georgetown's (Ky.) Jaquay Wales, Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Lucas Ribeiro, Pikeville's (Ky.) Jacob Brown, Shawnee State's (Ohio) Felix Uadiale, Tennessee Southern's Titus Griffin, Thomas More's (Ky.) Riley Haubner and Wilberforce's (Ohio) Jamir Hymes all earned the honor.

Sixty-five Mid-South Conference men's basketball student-athletes earned Academic All MSC honors, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) led the conference with 10 honorees while Bethel (Tenn.) and Lindsey Wilson had the second-most with nine apiece.
