Scurlock MSC Defensive Player of the Year, three others honored as All-Conference

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference 2022-23 Men's Basketball Awards were announced Friday.

Thomas More's (Ky.) Reid Jolly was named the MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Year while Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) Hunter Scurlock is the Randy Vernon Defensive Player of the Year. Georgetown's (Ky.) Tae Dozier earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors.

Georgetown's Chris Briggs was voted the MSC Coach of the Year by his peers while Rodney Haddix earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Jolly played in all 28 games making 27 starts for the Saints while averaging a team-high 17.4 points per game. He shot 47.1 percent from the field while averaging six rebounds per game. Jolly has scored 20 or more points 10 time this season with a high of 31. His 17.4 points per game rank second in the conference.

Scurlock is averaging a team-best 5.4 rebounds per game and has recorded a team-high 57 steals. His 57 steals are tied for third-best in the conference this season.

In his freshman campaign, Dozier started in 26 games averaging 10.3 points per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. He is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists a game.

Briggs and Haddix led the Tigers to a 24-4 record and winning the MSC regular season title going 18-4 in the conference. Georgetown is currently ranked No. 8 in the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

Twelve players were named to first and second teams with an additional six players earning honorable mention honors.
