HENDERSON, Tenn. — In a defensive Saturday afternoon battle, neither the Freed-Hardeman Lions nor their guests from the University of Pikeville (Ky.) could find the net to end on a draw 0-0.

The Lions (4-2-1, 0-1-1 MSC) were on their heels early when the Pikeville Bears fired a shot two minutes into the contest that sailed high. The best chances of the afternoon for the Lions came around the 27th minute when FHU fired off three shots in quick succession. First, Avery Flener's shot was kept out by the Bear keeper, followed by Roger Castelltort's rebound chance being smothered by UPIKE. The last chance of the flurry came when Drew Caldwell's attempt floated above the crossbar.

The Lions out-shot Pikeville (4-4-1, 0-1-1 MSC) in both halves, but the best chance for either team came at 63:09 when a long pass from Pikeville's midfield saw Paul Kueltz dribble around FHU's Omer Shifris to have a clear path to the goal. Fortunately for the lions, Alex Marchal came flying in to block the shot and keep the scores level. Joao Pedro had a chance on goal in the final minutes, but the Pikeville keeper made the save to end the match 0-0.

The Lions had several chances, tallying 11 shots with six being on target. On the other end, Shifris cleaned up both shots on goal from Pikeville.
