Shipley inks with FHU soccer

WEST PLAINS, Mo. — The Freed-Hardeman University men's soccer program has announced the signing of Cole Shipley to a soccer scholarship for the Lions. Shipley intends to pursue an athletic training path while playing for FHU.

"Cole really impressed us at camp with his work rate, skill, and defensive awareness," said head coach Jason Elliott. "He positions himself well and uses his pace to get forward when the opportunities come open. What really stands out is that he is a great young man, wants to work hard, and is very humble."

The defender had 27 assists and 3 goals while playing defender at West Plains High School in Missouri.  He also played club soccer for West Plains Scorpions FC and Sporting Springfield. Shipley was a three-time all-district player and nominee for conference and district defender of the year.  He was named academic all-state three years and state runner-up in public speaking.

"I chose FHU because of the atmosphere with the students, the coaches, and having family close to campus to support me," said Shipley.
