MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Despite dropping the doubles point, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions tennis team battled back to win four singles matches to defeat the NCAA DII Bucanneers of Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University 4-3.

The No. 1 Court saw Theo Devals and Aleksa Pesic team up for the Lions (3-8) but fell 6-2 to the CBU duo. Merlin Bolema and Maxime Guyon tied up the doubles draw with a 6-4 victory, but the tiebreak point went the Buccaneers' way with Caden Arnold and Nolan Laduree falling 6-4.

The singles draw came down to the final match after Bolema topped his opponent 6-2 and 6-4, but the Buccaneers bounced back with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Pesic.

The back-and-forth continued with Guyon defeating CBU 6-4, 6-2 with the No. 4 Court seeing Laduree claim victory with a pair of 6-4 sets. By holding the doubles point, with CBU's defeat of Devals 6-1, 6-1, the afternoon came down to the No. 6 court where Caden Arnold bounced back after losing his first set 4-6 but forced a decisive third set with a 6-2 victory. Needing extra games to determine a winner, Arnold won the set, match, and team match with a 10-6 win.
