FHU tennis picks up MSC win

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Picking up their first league win of the season, the Freed-Hardeman Lions defeated the Thomas More (Ky.) Saints 5-2 on Friday.

Freed-Hardeman (4-8, 1-7 MSC) picked up the doubles point with Merlin Bolema and Maxime Guyon's pairing earning victory 6-4. On the No. 1 Court, Theo Devals and Aleka Pesic dropped their match 6-3, but Caden Arnold and Nolan Laduree secured the point with a 6-2 win.

The No. 1 Singles Court saw Thomas More (1-11, 0-8 MSC) winning the first set against Bolema, but the Frenchman bounced back with a pair of 6-4 wins to claim victory 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Guyon won a three-set thriller to earn his singles point, winning 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 while Pescic fell in his match 6-1, 6-1.

Laduree shut out his opponent, winning the first set 6-0 before a 4-0 win after his opponent forfeited the final two games of the set. Devals claimed victory in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 before Arnold fell on the No. 6 Court 6-4, 6-4.
