Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis honors announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -   The Mid-South Conference announced its 2023 men's tennis All-MSC teams and individual honors on Thursday.

Lindsey Wilson's Jan Silhavy was named MSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year while Cumberland's (Tenn.) Pavel Kelo earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors. Cumberlands' (Ky.) Chin Tan was voted the MSC Coach of the Year. Cumberland's Juan Diego Medina earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Silhavy went 10-0 in singles play this season against conference competition. He was 9-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 2 singles. Silhavy went 7-3 in doubles play this season. He teamed up with Anatoliy Voloshyn at No. 2 doubles and went 3-1. Silhavy also played with Lucas Marques at No. 2 doubles and went 3-2. He teamed up with Ilyas Kouchari at No. 3 doubles and went 1-0.

Kelo in his freshman campaign for the Phoenix went 6-4 in singles against conference competition with all 10 matches at No. 1 singles. In doubles play, he teamed up with Adrijan Hrzic at No. 1 doubles and went 7-2.

Tan led the Patriots to a 10-0 record in the MSC and the conference regular season championship.

Medina helped lead Cumberland to the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a 9-1 MSC record.

Silhavy and Kelo highlight the 10-player first team all-conference list selected by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. An additional 10 were listed as second-team all-conference selections as well as five honorable mention honorees.
