Alverson named USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete

Taylor Hodges, Sports Information Director

Freed-Hardeman track & field star Tyler Alverson was named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Scholar Athlete, the association announced Monday, after the senior posted a cumulative GPA greater than 3.25 in his junior year.

Alverson was among 185 athletes across the country to earn this honor. In order to be named a USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete, you must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA on the 4.0 scale, and you must have achieved an “A” or “B” standard in a Championship event.

Alverson, a senior Bible major this fall, finished the spring semester with a 4.0 GPA, and he was named to both the AMC All-Academic Team and the NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete list. He competed in the marathon at nationals this year and finished 16th out of 60 runners.
