Alverson Takes Second Place At Fast Cats Classic

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Freed-Hardeman Cross Country teams hit the road this weekend to compete in the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Ky. and continued to make strides in the right direction toward a solid 2018 season.

Junior leader Tyler Alverson led the way for the Freed-Hardeman men's team, as he finished second out of 152 runners in the field. Alverson finished with a time of 26:21 in the 8K race and beat out runners from 23 teams in the field.

Sophomore Tristan Ray was next to cross the finish line for the Lions, as he finished in 37th place with a time of 28:57 while Sam Elliott rounded out the top three for FHU and finished in 59th place with a time of 30:00. Adam Dunlap (30:44) and Evan Kimes (30:52) rounded out the team scoring for the Lions, who finished in ninth place out of 16 teams in the field.

Meanwhile on the women's side, the top five finishers for FHU in the 5K race included Brooke Simpson (23:56), Holly Bowman (25:46), Carlee Ilias (26:16), Naomi Rodriguez (27:34) and Brittleigh Lawson (28:03).

Freed-Hardeman's women's team finished in 16th place in the event. NCAA Division 1 University of Evansville took a first place team finish in the women's race.
