WILBERFORCE, Ohio — After winning their first matchup in Henderson 69-46, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions were pushed to the limit by the hosting Wilberforce (Ohio) University Lady Bulldogs but ultimately claimed the season sweep with a 45-33 victory.
The Lady Lions (17-8, 11-8 MSC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after KJ White, Rachel Satterly, and Elli Chumley teamed up for free throws, a 3-pointer, and a layup, respectively. The Lady Bulldogs would answer with a 6-0 run of their own to narrow the FHU lead to a single point.
After both teams were unable able to find the hoop with consistency late in the half, it was a buzzer-beating layup from Wilberforce (4-20, 0-19 MSC) that ended the first half in a 19-19 tie.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the half with a layup to take a lead before White and Satterly teamed up to tally 13 unanswered points in the third quarter while holding Wilberforce to four. The Lady Lion fourth quarter was led by a seven-point frame from Kalea Fleming, allowing FHU to claim the 45-33 win.
Rachel Satterly's four 3-pointers helped her to 18 points to lead all scorers. Raegan Purvine was solid underneath, grabbing 10 boards.
