FHU places ninth on WBCA Academic Honor Roll

ATLANTA — The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced their 2022-23 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls, where the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions placed in the top 10. 

According to the WBCA, "The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls."

With a team GPA of 3.746, the 2022-23 edition of the FHU Lady Lions was in the top 10 of the NAIA. Two other Mid-South Conference teams from the 2022-23 seasons made the list including the University of Pikeville (Ky.) being the No. 1 school with a 3.877 and the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) placing 11th with a 3.718 GPA.
