MCKENZIE, Tenn. — After drawing with the Bethel (Tenn.) University Lady Wildcats on FHU's senior night last week, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions saw their season end at the hands of the same Lady Wildcats with a 4-0 final in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
FHU (5-12-2) drew the No. 10 seed in the conference playoffs, with Bethel's No. 7 seed allowing them to host the first round.
It was a lightning start for Bethel (8-6-4), who sent 13 shots Brooke Latham's way in net. The sophomore managed seven saves, but the hosts managed to score a pair of goals in the fifth minute and the 28th minute - both off of the boot of Ainhoa Chirivella.
The shot onslaught continued, with Bethel totaling 29 shots in the contest, with two more finding the back of the net, first at 49:54 from Nathalie Rojas before wrapping up the scoring at 89:59 with Natasha Dudley's unassisted goal.
The Lady Lions sent four shots toward the Lady Wildcat keeper, with two of Zoe Stom's attempts being on target. Sara Becerra and Abby Elmore got shots off, with the latter being on goal.
Despite the loss, Latham's 18 saves in the season finale were the most for her this season and tied for the most in her career.
