HENDERSON, Tenn. — It has been a busy month for the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer program with the addition of two more to their 2023 roster. Homeschooled Sophia Gravot - who played her prep years for the Middle Tennessee Golden Eagles - joins Mt. Juilet High School's Abby Schwarz.

An outside defender, Sophia Gravot started all four years for Middle Tennessee where the Golden Eagles finished as national runners-up in the National Home School Tournament for three consecutive years. Playing her club ball for Aris FC, Gravot intends to major in nursing while at FHU.

"We were impressed when we saw her play for Aris FC and think Sophia reads the game well," said FHU's men's coach Jason Elliott, "She will develop over the next few years and be a solid outside defender due to her pace and experience."

Hailing from Lebanon, Abby Schwarz helped the Golden Bears to four straight district championships while being honored as All-District for three years as a midfielder. Also a talented attacker, Schwarz plays as a forward for the Wilson United Soccer Club. Intending to major in kinesiology, Schwarz will graduate MJHS with honors and distinction, additionally being a Tri-Star Scholar and a Tennessee Scholar.

"We are looking forward to having Abby join our lady lions soccer team this fall.  She has a great attacking mindset and can find the back of the net," said Elliott. "With her pace, I think she will develop nicely as a college player."
