Lady Lions open season with win

HENDERSON, Tenn. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion tennis team hosted their season's opening match by hosting the Lane (Tenn.) Dragons at the R.L. Witt Tennis Center on Tuesday. FHU was perfect to earn the doubles point before all six singles matches went FHU's way.

Elise Kruzan and Mia Lancaster teamed up in the day's first doubles set where the Lady Lion (1-0) duo swept the Dragons in six games.

Kruzan would continue into the singles draw where she defeated her Lane opponent 6-2, before claiming a 6-1 set win. 

Hannah Pearce and Delfina Rodriguez-Molina handled their doubles match with a 6-0 victory before Rodriguez-Molina won her singles match with a 6-0 and 6-1 score. Pearce would end her day in perfection, besting her opponent 6-0 in both sets.

Morgan Brown and Savannah Corbitt wrapped up the doubles point with a 6-0 win. Brown continued with a pair of 6-0 set wins, while Corbitt earned the singles point with 6-1 and 6-2 victories.

In her lone match of the day, Kenna Smith opened her season win a win, claiming a 6-1 victory in both sets.

The Lady Lions will return to the courts this Friday where they await the Mississippi University for Women on February 24, beginning in Columbus, Mississippi at 10:00 a.m.
