Lady Lions fall to Lady Toppers

NEW ALBANY, Miss. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions dropped their first duel of the year on Tuesday night with a loss to the (RV) Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) University Lady Toppers 6-1.
Julianna Alves and Mia Lancaster teamed up for the FHU (2-1) doubles to lose to the ITA South Region's No. 10 pair of Tsvetanka Trifonova and Annabella Natalini 6-3. Lancaster and Trifonova would cross nets again for Court 1's singles match, with Lancaster forcing an extra game to drop the first set 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the second set.
Hannah Pearce and Delfinia Rodriguez-Molina battled Garlota Gacon and Kiara MacKay for the second doubles point, with the Lady Topper (3-1) duo clinching the doubles point with a 6-0 win. FHU would pick up a doubles win by default when the Lady Toppers did not have a doubles team to face Morgan Brown and Elise Kruzan. In the singles draw, Lady Topper Natalini defeated Julianna Alves 6-0 and 6-2.
On Court 2, Kruzan fell to Kristina Kozakova 6-4 and 6-0 while Alves dropped her singles match to Gascon 6-0, 6-2. Rodriguez-Molina fell 6-0, 6-4 to BMCU's Kiara MacKay, while Morgan Brown picked up the Lady Lions' lone point by default.
The Lady Lions will play their third match in six days by traveling to Memphis where they await the Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University Bucs on Thursday, March 2.
