Mid-South Conference Women’s Tennis honors announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference announced its 2023 women's tennis All-MSC teams and individual honors on Thursday.

Cumberlands' (Ky.) Meiri Okuwaki was named the MSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year while Campbellsville's (Ky.) Miru Nonaka earned Freshman of the Year honors. Cumberlands' (Ky.) Chin Tan was voted the MSC Coach of the Year by his peers. Cumberland's (Tenn.) Anna Kopituk earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Okuwaki was a perfect 10-0 against conference competition this season at No. 1 singles. She teamed up with Mikaela Fros at No. 10 doubles and went 8-2 in the MSC.

Nonaka in her freshman campaign with the Tigers went 8-2 in the conference. She was 3-0 in No. 1 singles, 5-1 in No. 2 singles and 0-1 in No. 3 singles. Nonaka was 6-4 in doubles play this season. She teamed up with Oriana Espinoza at No. 1 doubles and went 5-0. Nonaka also played with Candela Converti at No. 1 doubles and went 1-4.

Tan led the Patriots to a 10-0 record in the MSC and the regular season championship.

Kopituk helped lead Cumberland to the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and a 7-3 record in the MSC.

Okuwaki highlights the 10-person first team all-conference list conference list selected by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. Nonaka highlights the 10-person second team with an additional five players earning honorable mention.
