Lions and Lady Lions finish in top 10 in Kentucky

The men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Kentucky Wesleyan College Twilight Invitational on Friday, against Bethel, Brescia, Campbellsville, Cumberland, Evansville, Fisk, Kentucky Wesleyan, Midway, and Vincennes. The FHU men's team finished in fifth place, while the Lady Lions finished in sixth place. The University of Evansville won the men's and women's team titles.

Andy Gibson and Tyler Alverson won individual titles. Gibson led FHU scorers, finishing in first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a new school record time of 58.14 seconds and finishing in second place in the triple jump with a new school record jump of 12.67 meters. Alverson won the 10,000 meter race with a new school record time of 32:41.51.
Other scorers for the men's team were Keelan Murphy (third place in the 400m and fourth place in the 200m), Jeremiah Settle (fifth place, discus), Sam Elliott (fifth place in the 1500m and fifth place in the 800m), Philip Brock (fifth place, 3000m), Matthew Holder (sixth place, 3000m steeplechase), Tristan Ray (seventh place, 1500m), and Dylan Luce (eighth place, shot put).
Scorers on the women's side were Brooke Simpson (second place, 10,000m), Abby Wagner (fourth place, shot put), Annalee Jenks (fifth place in discus with a new school record mark of 32.00 meters), Emily Stults (sixth place, shot put), and Hannah Bilger (sixth place in the 200 meter and 8th place in the 100 meter).
The track and field teams are next in action next weekend at the Austin Peay State University Governors Invitational.
