HENDERSON, Tenn. — Before enjoying the annual Freed-Hardeman tradition of trick-or-treating in the dorms, the Lady Lions took care of business by sweeping the Lady Bearcats of Rust (Miss.) College (25-6, 25-19, 25-19).

Freed-Hardeman (15-13, 4-9 MSC) combined a clean attack and a monstrous night at the service line to collect eight service aces in the opening set. Five of the Lady Lions' first 12 points were thanks to the ace from Avery Harris. Adleigh Mayes took over to knock back-to-back service aces to put FHU ahead 16-1. When the Lady Bearcats were able to keep the ball in play, the Lady Lions hit with efficiency, tallying 11 kills off of 18 attacks, all while not committing an error for a .611 percentage.

Rust (9-21, 4-8 GCAC) utilized a late push in the second set to prove they were not willing to go quietly. After another pair of aces from Mayes to put FHU on top 21-13, the Lady Bearcats rattled off six unanswered points to draw within two points at 21-19. The Lady Lions benefited from a tough turn from the guests, with the final four points of the set coming off of Rust attack errors.

The Lady 'Cats opened the third set with a service ace of their own before streaking out to a 4-0 lead. Harris tallied a kill before settling in at the service line to helm a 5-0 run to right the ship and give the Lady Lions a 6-4 lead they would not relinquish.

Freed-Hardeman combined for a staggering 19 service aces in the sweep, the most by the Lady Lions this season. Senior Bryce Morris ended her career at the Brewer Sports Center with a new career high of four service aces, while Avery Harris set a new career ace record with six. Jayden Watkins led the maroon and grey with seven kills, while Allie Humphry tallied 17 assists in the match, and Kacey Donegan pulled up a team-high eight digs.
