HENDERSON, Tenn. — Head volleyball coach Amanda Cunningham added a big arm to her rotation with the signing of Alanys Ruiz.

Ruiz last competed for the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University where her 2021 season saw her honorably mentioned for the Sooner Athletic Conference's All-Conference team. Ruiz tallied 152 kills for the Aggies while totaling 25 blocks.

Before her time at OPSU, Ruiz played at the JUCO level for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where she was the 2019 Athlete of the Year. Academically, Ruiz recorded the highest college board score in the region in 2019 before landing on the Dean's Honor Roll in 2020 and the President's Honor Roll in 2020.

Originally from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Ruiz says, "I feel grateful for the opportunity to go to FHU; a place where I can grow as a person, student-athlete, and more importantly, can grow my faith."

Coach Cunningham said of her new pin hitter, "We are excited to add an experienced 6 rotation threat to our roster next year. She has previously competed at a high level and will help fill in the gaps from our large graduating class."
