Seven season-bests for Freed-Hardeman XC team in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At the Louisville Cross Country Classic 5K, the Freed-Hardeman women's cross country team finished with a total time of 1:49:37.80 and an average of 21:55.56. The race was run at Louisville's "Tom" Sawyer State Park. 40 teams participated with a total of 356 runners crossing the finish line. Eliza Poe led her team to the finish with a season-best of 20:27. She was followed by Zena Dorris, Megan Lampley, Allison Walker, and Elizabeth McKeeby

The Lady Lions had a great race and a personal record from Addie Burchett. Burchett beat her past PR by 22 seconds with her new 5K PR clocking in at 25:03. Freshmen Eliza Poe and Elizabeth McKeeby set season-bests in Louisville. Poe timed in at 20:27 while McKeeby finished the race at 24:19. 

The Men's Louisville Cross Country Classic 8K was run by 45 teams with 412 runners. The Lions finished with a total time of 2:17:57.40 and an average time of 27:35.48. Freed-Hardeman's top finishers were Nathan Mangrum, Matthew Ray, Blake Brown, Carter Welch, and Bo Scott

Brown, Carter, and Bo set PRs at the Louisville Cross Country Classic 8K. Brown beat his past PR by 22 seconds and finished the race at 27:27. Welch's new PR is 27:43. Scott's new PR is 28:26 which is 18 seconds faster than his previous PR. Also, Cade Berkey had a season-best of 28:21 at the Louisville Cross Country Classic.


Up Next: The Freed-Hardeman cross-country team's next meet will be the Mid-South Conference Championships on Friday, November 4th in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
