Bio
Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion head coach Todd Humphry enters his 22nd season with the program, having rebuilt the program from scratch since his arrival in 2000. He won his 300th game in 2014, making him the only coach in Freed-Hardeman history with 300 wins in two sports (softball and volleyball).
Humphry has taken his team to the NAIA National Tournament six out of the last seven seasons, making it to the World Series in Columbus, Georgia, in 2018 and 2022.
In his program's first season in the Mid-South Conference, the Lady Lions competed in the 2021 MSC tournament conference final, returning in 2022 where the Lady Lions won the regular season and tournament crown. Humphry was selected as the conference's Coach of the Year while also being honored as the Region VI Coach of the Year as voted by members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The 2022 campaign was the most successful in program history, earning the first 50-win season with a 52-6 overall record. The Lady Lions appeared in the NAIA Softball World Series where they were the fifth team remaining in the nation.
At the conclusion of the 2018 regular season, Humphry was named the American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Lions to a 36-16 record (22-2 in conference play) and advancing to the NAIA World Series following a victory in the NAIA Tournament Opening Round in Campbellsville, Ky.
Humphry started coaching softball at Harding Academy in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1992, where he helped to build and develop what was then a young program. He is also the head volleyball coach at FHU.
A 1989 graduate of Harding (Ark.) University, Humphry played on the Bison baseball squad for two seasons. He and his wife, Susan, have three children: Emily, Jared, and Allie, with two grandsons - Maddox and Lucas.
